The French Presidential Advisor on African affairs, Andre Parant, has conveyed France’s appreciation to Sudanese President Omar al Bashir (photo left), for helping to secure the release of a French International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) worker, Laurent Maurice.  Maurice who was held for three months by kidnappers in Chad, was released on Saturday. The Eagles of African Liberation claimed responsibility for the abduction.

Parant who arrived in Khartoum on Monday said he’d also appealed to Bashir about “the three other French humanitarian workers who are still being held."
