E-mail Print

refugeefamily_380Chad will assume security and financial responsibility for the Sudanese refugee camps east of Chad after the United Mission in Central African Republic and Chad (MINURCAT) has pulled out.  Chadian Minister of Information, Hussein Mursal, told Miraya FM that the government will not renew the mission’s presence in the country as no military operation has been carried out since deployment.

He added that Chadian police have, since the start of MINURCAT, been responsible for security in the camps. The government is now waiting for the mission’s deployment contract in Chad to expire.
