The Southern Sudan Ministry of Health has initiated training for dozens of enumerators across the region ahead of the second round of Household Health Survey. The Director of Research and Health System Development in the ministry, Olivia Lomoro, said that blood samples will be taken during the survey to test for iron deficiency and HIV/AIDS which have become a problem in Southern Sudan.
Striking Medical personnel in Khartoum called on the president of the Republic to relieve the Federal Minister of Health, Tabitha Butros, off here duties.The personnel also called on the presidency to intervene in solving the problems of their arrears.

The Commissioner of Kajo Keji County of Central Equatoria State, Muki Batali, said that Health workers in the main hospital have resumed work after receiving two months delayed salaries. Batali said that an agreement was reached between the workers and the State Minister of Health to resume work as their salaries will be paid gradually.
The Federal Ministry of Health has condemned the beating and the use of violence against doctors at Khartoum hospital by their striking colleagues to force them to join the strike. Dr Kamal Abdelgadir, the ministry’s undersecretary, said in a press conference yesterday that the ministry is not affected by the medical registrars’ strike. Abdelgadir pointed out that all agreed arrangements with the medical doctors are being implemented with the formation of a joint committee headed by the State Minister of Health.
