A housing and population census will take place from 22nd April 2008.
This is part of the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
The census was scheduled to provide information to help prepare for the elections due to take place in 2009 and the self-determination referendum for Southern Sudan due in 2011.
The census is organized by the Government of National Unity.
It does this through the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) and the Southern Sudan Commission for Census, Statistics and Evaluation (SSCCSE). .
