The Director of Communicable Disease Surveillance and Response at the Government of South Sudan told Miraya FM that the Health Ministry has received this week medical treatment for swine flu from the World Health Organization (WHO) for 10,000 people in preparation for any outbreak of the desease.

Ashraf Qazi welcomes election postponement |

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Sudan, Ashraf Qazi, has welcomed the postponement of the national elections to April 2010 as recently announced by the National Elections Commission (NEC). Mr Qazi said in a press statement that the revised elections' timetable will provide more time for voter registration, training of staff, in addition to civic and voter education.
