High Elections Committee in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State has said that more than 40 state legislators who are running as independent candidates in the upcoming elections submitted verbal complaints claiming the suspension of their salaries due to their political views.
The first shipment of ballot papers printed in Khartoum for the upcoming elections has arrived in Juba Friday. Deputy Chairperson of the Southern Sudan High Election Committee, Anthony Ariki, said that more ballot papers are expected in the coming weeks ahead of their distribution to the states. He added that the ballot papers are being strictly guarded until the polling day.
Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni has said that the leader of the rebel Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), Joseph Kony, may have fled to Sudan's Western region of Darfur. During a press conference held today in Kampala, Museveni pointed that that the Ugandan army managed to weaken the LRA after the Central African Republic gave permission to operate in its territories.
